Safety, Security, & Emergency Management

Contact 911 in the event of an emergency!

Please use the SKSD Tip Line to report non-emergency issues and concerns.

The South Kitsap School District Safety, Security, and Emergency Management Team (SSEM) is comprised of a Director, Administrative Assistant, and a team of security officers.

The lead security officer and a roving security officer spend their days patrolling district facilities and add additional support to students & staff at our 16 schools.  Two security officers are assigned to South Kitsap High School and each of our three middle schools have a security officer assigned to them.

Safety of our students, staff and visitors is a high priority for the SKSD and we have additional support from the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office and the Port Orchard Police Department, with one full-time contracted school resource officer throughout the school year.

If our team can be of any assistance, please let us know.

Stay Safe.

South Kitsap School District is a Handle With Care (HWC) district.

Two blue hands cradle a heart made of puzzle pieces, one green and one blue, with text around it.South Kitsap School District is a Handle With Care (HWC) district.
The Handle With Care (HWC) program enables first responders to notify schools when they encounter a child at a potentially traumatic incident so schools can have an awareness if the student is behaving differently than their regular manner.  If a first responder encounters a child during a call, that child’s name and three words, HANDLE WITH CARE, are forwarded to the school district and then to the child’s school. The notification serves as a “heads up” to those in the school system who interact with the student in case outward signs of problems begin to emerge.  This notification system is for passive awareness only and does not contain any details of the incident leading to the notification.
